How to Keep Your Child’s Oral Health in Top-Notch Condition
Did you know it’s important to clean your child’s teeth so they can have a healthy smile in New York, New York? Well, it’s true! So, to help you, our Wynatte Chu, DDS dental team encourages you to follow these instructions:
Step 1: Use a child’s toothbrush and low-fluoride toothpaste. Usually, the brush has smaller bristles and a specially formed handle. As far as the toothpaste goes, only use toothpaste for children. It’s also recommended to use a paste that has a flavor your child enjoys.
Step 2: Make sure your child is comfortable and try to make brushing a fun experience. First, put a pea-sized amount of toothpaste on the brush’s bristles. Then, place the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to the gums. Next, scrub the front of the teeth with small, gentle circles. Once you are done, brush the insides of the teeth using the same motions. Finally, scrub the biting surfaces by moving the brush back and forth.
Step 3: When you are done cleaning your child’s smile, have them spit the toothpaste into the sink and rinse with water. Then, reward them for doing such a great job.
If you do these things, your child will be headed toward a clean and healthy smile! Now that you have that handled, it’s important to take care of your smile as well. To keep your teeth and gums clean and pristine, your dentist, Dr. Wynatte Chu, and our dental team encourage you to keep up on oral hygiene daily and attend your six-month checkups.
